1. Salvation Army participates in the “Good Neighbor Energy Fund”, a program that assists people in financial trouble pay their utility bills, and sometimes telephone bills.

2. PACE Fuel Assistance - LIHEAP Program helps eligible families pay their heating bills during the winter (or until the benefits are exhausted). Clients can also receive discounts on phone bills, electric bills, and gas and oil bills.

3. New Bedford Crisis Center (Children and Family Services) 9-bed unit for children ages 4-17 experiencing emotional and behavioral crisis. They receive support and moderate supervision in a therapeutic environment along with individual/group therapy, psychiatric assessment, and family therapy and well as schooling five days a week. Used as an alternative to institutionalization, or as a bridge between an inpatient facility and a return to home.
Emergency Services (Crisis Center) - provides 24/7 treatment for those who need emergency mental health counseling. There is always a mental health clinician and psychiatrist at the facility.

4. FHR Anchor House variety of services including transitional employment, education assistance (help with financial aid and how to attend trade school, universities, and obtain a GED), assistance with social security/disability claims and registering for Medicaid.

5. Tenancy Preservation Program assists disabled people who are at risk for being evicted because of circumstances related to their disability.

6. New Bedford Housing Authority help finding affordable housing through government assistance programs, as well as HUD rent vouchers to help those with trouble paying rent.

8. Catholic Social Services provides assistance for various emergency needs: food, help paying rent, utilities, and other financial assistance, and can also act as an advocate between tenants and landlords, between clients and credit card companies, utility companies, etc. Will also help clients with future needs by helping them make a budget, find more affordable housing, and apply for government assistance.
